Lead Teacher

About

In Reggio Emilia and Reggio Emilia inspired teaching, the environment, or the place where learning happens, is called "the third teacher". I strive to create a learning environment that is not only safe and functional but also beautiful, inviting, and reflective of the children and their work.

Materials are kept at eye level, organized and displayed to invite children to use them. Children's work and photos are displayed on the walls for reflection. Provocations are laid out to draw children in and invite them to a learning experience. The learning environment should be respectful and thoughtful of children, their experiences, and points of view.

In the Young Toddler Program the environment is carefully and thoughtfully designed for students to promote early literacy, math, and science skills. Children develop these skills through exposure and access to books, music, block play, dramatic play, inquiry based work, and process oriented art experiences.
